Perfect for the summer so you can have a swim at the halfway point!
From Mount Hay Road Carpark, start on Fortress Ridge Track. Take a right at the first fork, and continue down until the the next fork. The next fork, where you take a right, will take you steeply downhill to the river. The second fork can be a little bit hard to find as it is not well marked. If you miss it, the trail you are on comes to a natural end with a large rock cliff and if you make it to this cliff-ending, you are only 50-100m away from the fork you missed.

Fresh water river at halfway, but a popular swimming spot so wouldn't count on it for drinking.
Snakes, spiders, lizards, and lots of flies in the summer!
Do you have a suggestion on where to go afterwards for the best coffee / cake / breakfast / brunch / beer?
